A walk in the park
Sunday 2nd August, 2020
A few weeks ago, I managed to get out and go for a walk in the park in the estate opposite the neurological centre I live in.
When things were normal, before the pandemic, a lady named Julie visited every fortnight with her gorgeous golden retriever, Alfie, who is a Pets As Therapy dog. Over the year or so they have been visiting, Julie and I have become friends and it was her and Alfie whom met up with my carer and I for a wander around the park.
The park itself, Plock Court, is pretty big, with a fitness centre and tennis courts etc. next to it. In the 5+ years I have lived here this is the first time I’ve ventured across to it!
We walked along the road that runs alongside, but the gate we were heading for was shut so I couldn’t get into the park itself – Julie let Alfie off the lead so that he could run in the field, and we took a leisurely stroll around the side as we chatted.
It was lovely to see my friend and her beautiful dog, and it was especially nice to actually get out for the first time since the centre locked down on March 18th.
